ELECTIONS 

President Elect

The Texas Foreign Language Association is seeking applicants for the office of President Elect.   Applications will be reviewed by the Nominations Committee and a candidate will be selected for a slate for the members of TFLA to vote on, which will be presented to the membership by Sept. 25, 2020.   

Qualifications to run for this office include: 

  • Current TFLA membership 

  • Serves/has served as a classroom teacher, instructor at a higher ed. Institution, or in a district, regional, or state role, with a focus on World Languages in Texas

  • Ability to attend all TFLA Board meetings and TFLA events 

  • Fulfill a three-year commitment: one-year term as President Elect, followed by a one-year term as President, and a one-year term as Past President

EXECUTIVE BOARD VACANCIES 

The Texas Foreign Language Association is seeking applicants for the following appointed positions: 

Director of Technology 

The Director of Technology should have the ability to 

  • Attend all TFLA events, including Professional Learning, Annual Conference, and all Board meetings 

  • Efficiently use all technology products used by TFLA 

  • Provide technology support and troubleshooting during all TFLA events 

  • Stay abreast of technology trends and latest products 

  • Provide training and support for all technology applications to the Board and membership as needed 

  • Assist Board members with their responsibilities as affected by technology (databases, membership, website, software, hardware, etc.) 

Director of Professional Learning

The Director of Professional Learning should have the ability to 

  • Attend all TFLA Professional Learning events, Annual Conference, and all Board meetings 

  • Coordinate with other Board members to plan and host the TFLA Summer Institute and other professional offerings. 

  • Coordinate the solicitation of proposals and the selection of presentations for the Annual Conference 

  • Confer with and support the Regional Coordinators in the planning of regional Professional Learning events 

  • Plan and host additional Professional Learning events as agreed upon by the Board

Director of Public Outreach and Advocacy

The Director of Public Outreach and Advocacy should have the ability to 

  • Attend all TFLA Professional Learning events, Annual Conference, and all Board meetings.

  • Advocate for World Language education.

  • Disseminate information, data, and research focused on World Language instruction.

  • Serve as the TFLA representative to JNCL/NCLS/

This year we will be joining resources for a combined Annual Conference with ACTFL, November 20-22, 2020, with pre-convention workshops on November 19th. Value-added workshops, keynote speakers and presenters will be offered, as in years past.
